Baby Casting Kits by Pure & Elegant

FAQ's

Please find below some of the frequently asked questions we have received regarding our Baby Casting Kits.

FAQ: Why is Chromatic Alginate better than other moulding materials?

Chromatic Alginate is the easiest, best quality and safest moulding mixture you can buy. It even changes colour to help guide you through the moulding stage, unlike other moulding mixtures.

FAQ: Is the Chromatic Alginate safe on my baby's skin or could it irritate it?

The Alginate / Impression powder we use in our Baby Casting Kits are non-toxic and biodegradable, therefore they are completely safe to use on your baby’s skin.

FAQ: Why is your Casting Kit better than other Casting Kits on the market?

We feel our Baby Casting Kits are extremely good value for money as we supply all the materials that are required to create your unique casts. Other Baby Casting Kits leave out vital materials therefore leaving you to go out and buy the necessary materials.

FAQ: Do you use different materials or all the same materials in your choice of kits?

We use the same materials in all our Baby Casting Kits. However, the only exception is the different types of Box Frames.

FAQ: I want to put my baby’s 3D hand and foot casts on my mantle piece rather than hang them on the wall. Do you have anything suitable?

We supply superior display boxes, ideal for any mantle piece or shelf. Our display boxes have plenty of space inside them to display your unique baby’s hand and foot casts.

FAQ: My mould is setting too quickly what can I do?

The mould setting time can vary depending on the temperature of the air and the temperature of the water used. The quantity of water added also affects the mould. The moulding time can be lengthened if you add slightly more water. We always recommend you use cold water, as this gives you a little extra time.

FAQ: Can I reuse the mould?

No, unfortunately you cannot reuse the mould due to it having to be broken away from the plaster cast. However we do supply a large bag of Chromatic Alginate so that you can create approximately 5 to 6 casts depending on the age(s) of the children and size of their hands and feet.
